Irrigation Facilities

The NIA-Pula Bansud River Irrigation System has been operating since 1960. Since then, several rehabilitation works were undertaken through the Irrigation Operation Support Project (IOSP). Irrigation water is diverted through a run-off type river dam located in Barangay Inclanay, across the Pula River. The system serves 18 barangays of Pinamalayan, two in Socorro and another two in Pola. It has a total length of 50.7 kilometers of canals and 36.4 kilometers of service roads. It covers 3,117.5 hectares of Riceland.

 Municipal Slaughterhouse

There is a municipal slaughterhouse in Pinamalayan. It is located at a one hectare lot in Barangay Papandayan. It has a capacity of 16 tons and makes use of Biogas Technology for waste treatment. 

Agricultural Center & Breeding Stations

  • Vermi Culture/Composting and Vermi Tea Production

Vermi composting facility gradually transformed the farming practices of farmers from conventional to organic. There have been numerous proofs that the future of agriculture lies on organic farming which was given emphasis by this office through this project. It has been its program to distribute vermi tea to the farmers intended to assist them in improving production while gradually reducing dependency on chemical inputs. The table below indicates that 26 barangays are using this organic input and received 13,414 liters which was used in their respective areas.

  • Trichoderma Laboratory

The establishment of Trichoderma Laboratory strengthen the campaign of this office to scatter rice straw after harvesting. The application of trichoderma hastens the decomposition process which is distributed by this office for free. Said laboratory produced two hundred (200) bottles of trichoderma which was used by the farmers.

  • Metarhizium Laboratory

This laboratory was established to produce metarhizium, an organically produced insecticide especially designed to eradicate Rice Black Bug which is responsible to devastating loss of rice yield not only experienced in this municipality but throughout the country. With the production of this, infestation of the said insects will be avoided and said laboratory produced 278 packs of metarhizium weighing 0.25 kilogram/pack. 

Farm Equipment and Warehouses    

The most common farm equipment used in the municipality consists of tractors rice threshers, rice mills and others. The municipality has a total of 32 rice mills, 66 warehouses, 4 mechanical dryers, 67 irrigation pump, 102 solar dryers, 213 rice threshers, 363 hand tractors and accessories and 1 cold storage with 72 tons capacity.

  • Farm Tractor

The farm tractor of the municipality have been functional for the whole year and cultivated a total of 87.65 hectares of land covering different barangays. Such areas were used to the production of crops like corn, cassava, papaya, fruit trees and vegetables. This accomplishment is significant in expanding the food production areas in consonant with the objective of this office and with the Department of Agriculture.

Agro-Meteorological Station

The station was maintained and used in gathering atmospheric information of the municipality. As in the conduct of the Enhanced Farmers Field School in Barangay Bacungan and Pagalagala, much deeper appreciation of the significance of this station took place for it served as one of the point of interests of the said school. It was so because such kind of schooling is designed to inculcate to the farmer participants the importance of collecting accurate local weather information which is tools to reach good production without suffering from the adverse effects in the change in climate as well as an early warning devise for the coming disastrous climatic phenomenon.
