Land Transportation
The municipality is traversed by the national road that weaves through the province. The national highway which cuts across Pinamalayan stretches all the way from Calapan City in the north to the southern coastal Municipality of Bulalacao. The total road network in Pinamalayan is estimated at 240.3916 kilometers. This results to an over-all road density of 0.0040 kilometer/hectare. The road network consists of national, provincial, municipal and barangay roads. Of this figure, 5.10% is covered by the national road, almost four-tenths (39.13%) are provincial roads, two-tenths (5.6%) municipal roads, 41 percent are barangay roads and 9 percent is irrigation roads.
Pinamalayan has a total of 13,555 meters of municipal roads. Most of these roads are concreted. These municipal roads provide access either to the coastal communities or to the interior upland barangays. Concrete paved roads allow easy access to upland barangays like Sabang, Marayos and Pambisan Malaki.
All barangays in the municipality are inter-connected by road network. Coastal barangays, especially Barangay Ranzo, are also accessible by pump boats with regular daily trips from and to the Poblacion.
Efforts are being worked out to construct additional kilometer of road from Sitio Simborio of Brgy. Banilad to Brgy.Ranzo. Such project is expected to expedite the development of the area as a major tourist destination.
The effort of the Municipal Government on road development is focused much on cementing existing road networks. There may be some newly constructed roads but these are insufficient to cover the necessary kilometer of road links to spread development in the entire municipality. Moreover, the opening of the Strong Republic Nautical Highway requires the Municipal Government to construct service roads for passenger utility vehicles and other vehicles regularly plying on the said highway. The absence of service roads forces these vehicles to take the national highway in spite of the increasing incidence of road accidents. Currently, 2.6 kilometers of the 6 kilometer coastal road via Zone I – Papandayan – Quinabigan coasts serves as concrete alternate route.

The Poblacion offers wide and concrete roads and shoulders, as well as drainage canals constructed along the perimeter of the Pinamalayan Public Market which manifest the effort of the LGU to minimize incidence of floods in the urban area. Highly notable projects, such as, Construction of Madrid Boulevard Island (installed with six huge Geo-lite lightnings and 18 small Geo-lite with posts similar with those found in Baywalk, Manila), add more urban flavor at the heart of the Poblacion.
At night, street lights illuminate the Poblacion, insuring safety and protection within the vicinity, especially to the pedestrians and vehicles plying in the busy thoroughfares along the central business district. his effort complements the well planned urban core of the town. Its grid pattern of roads having 20 meter wide right–of-way in major segments signify the capacity of the Poblacion area to absorb further urban growth. Significantly, it manifests the original intention of the American urban planners of preparing the town for potential city-hood.
In 2014, Municipal Tricycle Franchising Regulatory Board record shows that out of 2,479 tricycle units granted franchise, only 1,687 units renewed, 297 new franchise were awarded for a total of 1,984 units plying different routes in the territorial jurisdiction of the municipality. One hundred ninety-eight (198) franchise holder requested and granted cancellation of their franchise while the remaining 297 units comprised non-renewing and/or expired franchises.
A public transport Grand Terminal is now a major and urgent concern of the municipality in accordance with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and in response to the opportunities brought by the Strong Republic Nautical Highway. The Municipality, being in the center of the province and being one of the 3 major urban growth centers of Oriental Mindoro should be utilized for a stop-over by passenger buses having Manila – Caticlan trips and vice-versa.

Airport
The Pinamalayan Airport Development Project started in 1991. It has an airport falling under classification F. It can accommodate DC-10 type plane with 60 passenger capacities. It has a 1.2 km. runway, a taxi way, apron, control tower, fire station and terminal building. Although there are no regular operation of flights, the runway and critical facilities are on constant watch and maintenance since from time to time some unexpected aircraft's do land in the airport on different purposes.
Seaport
The Municipality has two informal ports, one in Pili and another in Recodo, Zone I. The former is used in as an alternative port while the newly constructed Recodo Port (a multi-million peso foreign assisted port) serves fishing boats and passenger boats with the trips going to Marinduque and Concepcion Romblon.
